Have you got old pairs of glasses that are lying around at home?
Don’t chuck them out, bring them in with you to your next appointment! We have two different systems we use in the practice, to ensure there is no waste and we can limit our impact on the environment.
For any frames with lenses that are not damaged or unused and within-date contact lenses, we are happy to collect and donate them on your behalf to the Lions Club. The Lions Club use these to support humanitarian aid programs for people less fortunate than ourselves. Check out this link to find out more about the wonderful help your old glasses or unused contact lenses can give to those in need: https://lionsclubs.org.au/our-impact/recycle-for-sight-australia/
For any damaged frames, lenses, expired contact lenses or even packaging from your contact lenses, we are happy to collect and recycle them on your behalf to TerraCycle. Everything that TerraCycle collects, is sorted and processed in to raw materials that can be reused, instead of being sent to landfill. TerraCycle Zero Waste Boxes are Australian made & are FSC certified to ensure the cardboard is sustainably sourced.
